Travel - Moscow in Russian

Why Travel to Moscow?

Moscow, the capital city of Russia, is a beautiful and unconventional city in the center of 'European Russia'. Modern Moscow is fast becoming a popular destination for both business and travel; partly due to its people and the pride they have in their city. Russians are an incredibly warm and hospitable people who enjoy life to the full. If you are lucky enough to be invited to a Muscovite's home then you are likely to be treated to a memorable evening of shchi (vegetable soup), bliny, salted fish, vodka, pickled cucumbers and possible even more vodka, just don't expect an early night.

Moscow is one of the oldest and one of the most beautiful Russian cities.

The emperors, or tsars, made the city their base of rule until 1712, when the capital was moved to Saint Petersburg. Moscow was restored as Russia's capital in 1918, and it served as the capital of the Union of
Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) from 1922 until 1991. Since then Moscow is the capital of the Russian Federation.

Travel - Sydney in Australia

Sydney

Sydney, the capital of the Australian State of New South Wales is Australia's oldest and largest city with a population of almost 4 million, and covering almost 1120 square kilometres (700 square miles). Sydney is a safe, fresh, friendly destination with a warm, sunny climate that makes a visit perfect in any season. In fact, at least 240 days of sunshine a year means your visit will be as bright as the sparkling, ever-visible harbour.

Sydney is one of the great seaports of the world. It is also the nation's most popular tourist destination.

The city is divided into North and South by the Sydney Harbour, with both Sydney Harbour Bridge and Tunnel connecting them. Most of the tourist attractions are in the South part of the city, with a large business and residential area in the North.

The South part of the city consists of The Rocks and Circular Quay to the North, with the Central Station marking the South. Darling Harbour marks the West and there are a number of parks to the East.

Sydney has many influences upon its style. Aboriginal sites and engravings can still be seen from the original occupiers, the Eora tribe. The city also has an anglo-mediterranean style and a growing Chinese and Asian influence.

Sydney is a remarkably easy city to move around in. An excellent train, bus and ferry service covers all points of the greater metropolitan area. Roadways, although congested in peak hour times, are generally well planned and driving is not too harrowing an experience.

Most Sydney tourist attractions are either within the central business district, close to the CBD, or at points around the harbour. The exceptions are Bondi and Manly - surf beach suburbs situated south and north of Sydney Heads.

Travel - London in England

London is the capital city of both the United Kingdom and of England, and the largest European city. Situated on the River Thames in South-East England, Greater London has an official population of 8 million people, although the figure of over 14 million for the city's metropolitan area more accurately reflects London's size and importance. London is historically one of the great "world cities" and remains a global capital of politics, culture, fashion and finance.

The name "London" originally referred only to the once-walled "Square Mile" of the original Roman (and later medieval) city. "London", however, has taken on a much larger meaning, to include all of the vast central part of the modern metropolis, "London" having absorbed numerous surrounding towns and villages over the centuries. Reflecting the massive size of the metropolis, therefore, the term "Greater London" embraces central London together with all the outlying suburbs that lie in one continuous urban sprawl within the lower Thames valley. Though densely populated by New World standards, London retains large swathes of green parkland and open space, even within the city centre.

London is the place where the historic past and the vibrant present come alive. A blend of history, ground-breaking architecture and culture has created an amazing and constantly evolving city.

Not surprisingly the capital has become a mecca for visitors and a great place to live. There really is something to appeal to everyone and whatever your interests may be, the city has it covered.

With countless museums, galleries and entertainment options throughout the city there has never been a better time to come and find out just how much it has to offer.

Travel - Hawaii in America

Hawaii is the most remote island chain in the world, over 2,000 miles from the nearest landfall. Distance makes for splendid isolation - these Polynesian islands are removed from all else but one another.

Hawaii consists of eight major islands plus 124 minor islands, reefs and shoals, strung like a necklace across the Pacific for over 1,500 miles. The eight major islands (which make up over 99% of the total land area) are Oahu, Maui, Hawaii (known as Big Island), Kauai, Molokai, Lanai, Kahoolawe (uninhabited) and Niihau (privately owned).

Each of the major islands has an identity all its own. Oahu is as different from Molokai and Maui as Kauai is from Lanai and the Big Island - each as varied and colorful as the official state flower, the hibiscus. With their collective mass of 4.1 million acres or 6,450 square miles, these islands form the fourth smallest state in the United States.

Beyond mere geography, to Hawaiians the land is "mother". The Hawaiian word for land, 'aina, literally means "that which feeds". It doesn't belong to us; we belong to it, and are part of it.

Travel - Rome in Italy

Rome, the capital of Italy, rises on the banks of the Tevere about 25 kilometers from its main outlet in the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Rome is situated at the center of an undulating plain, the Campagna Romana, which is confined to one side by the hills of Monte Mario, Gianicolo and Monteverde and on the other side by smaller hills of volcanic origin - the so-called "Seven Hills."

Roma:The name inverts neatly to form amor[e]. No wonder that a natural occurrence is to fall in love with Rome, the fabled Eternal City, the city that exerts the most fascination in the mind of the traveler, and can reward as no other city can. Do not expect her playful, exuberant fountains to cease from casting their liquid diamonds into the sky, even during the quiet hours of the night, for there is no stopping the water-flow of her hundreds of miles of acqueducts, which will also be serving your hotel room. Yet, as no other city has been the focal point of the world for such a long period of time, few have such a long and turbulent history as has Roma. Lavished with architectural jewelry from republican to imperial to early-christian to medieval to renaissance to baroque to modern times by history's greatest artists, the queen of cities has also experienced sieges, raids, fires, and earthquakes that left their scars; but each time the Eternal City recovered from her injuries in glorious form.

Travel - Paris in France

Why Travel to Paris?

Paris is the most glamorous city in Europe. The city is very walkable and even the furthest sights can be reached easily by Metro or bus.

Both left and right banks of the River Seine are stuffed with sights such as:

The right bank- Arc de Triomphe, the world famous arch commissioned by Napoleon + the tree/shop-lined Champs-Elysées, and at the end of that avenue is Place de la Concorde, where the well-travelled 3,300-year-old Egyptian obelisk oversees the city's chaotic traffic.

On the other side of the avenue, through the peaceful Tuileries Garden, you get to the incredible Louvre, a vast building with glass pyramid entrance, where 'Mona Lisa' still smiles. Other notable buildings are Opéra Garnier an imposing theatre], Centre Georges Pompidou [modern art museum], Sacré Coeur [Basilica of the Sacred Heart] with a monster white dome from where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the city.

Then there's Les îles with Notre Dame - it's is well worth climbing the 387 steps for a breathtaking view of Paris and close look at some scary gargoyles.

Conciergerie is a former prison where 3,000 guillotine victims including Marie-Antoinette were kept warm.

One of the city's almost hidden treasures, inside the Palais de Justice is Saint Chapelle, a Gothic masterpiece with 13thC stained glass.

The left bank - The Eiffel Tower , the 320m tower landmark of Paris is infamous for a long wait for the lift.
An adjacent park, Champ de Mars is pleasant for picnics for weary travellers. Another must-see museum is Musée d'Orsay for an exquisite collection of Impressionist works.

The Quartier Latin, enlivened by students of the Sorbonne University, offers Roman ruins, Musée du Moyen Âge , Arénes de Lutéce, and two fine parks, the Luxembourg and Jardin des Plantes.

A relatively new attraction is La Défense, a massive skyscraper group, including Grande Arche , with open-air contemporary arts exhibits in the west of the city.

Paris is a wonderful city for aimless wandering. Relaxed quarters such as the vibrant Marais, elegant St-Germain and romantic Montmartre are ideal for street-browsing, shopping and café-sitting, and the city's lack of open space is redeemed by beautiful formal gardens, by the pathways and pavements that run beside the River Seine
